Santa Maria’s prize-winning spice jar was originally designed in 1959 by the famous design team Sigvard Bernadotte/Acton Björn. The simple, classic shape quickly becomes popular and can soon be found in most spice racks.
At the end of the 1980s, there was a cautious change to the label and lid, although the timeless design continued to live on. Proof of its strength comes in 1992 when Santa Maria’s spice jar is awarded a Scanstar. This prestigious Scandinavia award is seen as recognition of good design, form, function and user-friendliness. Swedish tradition and quality have also characterised the manufacturing process. The spice jar has since gone into production at a Swedish glassworks.
