Product development is definitely of the highest priority at Santa Maria. That’s why our buyers and product developers are often off travelling. We are working with creative flavouring and never stop looking for new flavours, dishes and eating habits. To do this, we obviously need to look for inspiration, genuine flavours, traditions and the best raw ingredients in different places around the world.

Any good ideas we bring home with us are tested and developed in our test kitchens and laboratories. The best ideas lead to exciting new products and concepts that we can then offer our customers.


There’s a lot of research and development behind each finished dish. As we have our own test kitchens, we have full control over the entire process. Obviously, we also adapt our product to meet modern demands. For example, we are constantly working to produce ever more healthy products with a lower fat content and fewer allergens.

The factory is also a product of the latest developments. This is where our spices and raw products are carefully processed through cleaning, grinding and blending.

In other words, you could say that our product development involves all parts of the company, which isn’t so strange. Everyone at Santa Maria is driven by curiosity, innovative thinking and a burning interest in the best things in life.

Our business concept is to provide fresh taste sensations all year round. For consumers to be able to have as many fresh herbs as possible our greenhouses are also our warehouses. Fresh herbs are perishable goods and should therefore be consumed as soon as possible after purchase.
